Booking FAQ

How shared tours, payment, cancellation and bad weather work for tours and transfers around Svaneti.

Shared tours and transfers

How many people does a shared tour need to run?+

For most tours, at least 4. If the group doesn't fill, the manager offers another destination, a private transfer, or the same trip for a small surcharge.

When will I know whether the group is confirmed?+

The evening before departure. The manager contacts every participant — many people book late, after dinner, so the final group is only clear that evening.

Where does the shared transfer pick me up?+

Usually at your hotel or on a central street in Mestia — the pickup point is agreed with the manager.

What if I'm running late?+

The manager and/or the driver will call you to ask how much more time you need. If you don't answer within 15–20 minutes, the shared transfer leaves.

Will you post photos from the tour?+

We may use photos from shared tours for advertising on our website, Telegram channel and social media. If you don't want photos of you published, tell the manager or guide — we won't use them.

Payment

Do I need to pay in advance?+

No. We don't take prepayment for tours and transfers around Svaneti, and usually not for intercity transfers either.

How do I pay?+

In cash to the driver, or by bank transfer to a Georgian card or account using the details the manager sends.

Cancellation

Can I cancel?+

Yes, you can cancel a tour or transfer yourself — there is no prepayment and no non-refundable deposit for tours and transfers around Svaneti. Please tell us as early as you can.

Why does cancelling a confirmed shared tour matter?+

Once a shared transfer is confirmed, one person dropping out often means the group no longer fills — and the trip is cancelled for everyone else.

Weather and timing

What happens in bad weather?+

The tour may be cancelled, moved to another day, or replaced by an alternative route — the manager or guide decides together with the group.

Why do sunrise and sunset departures change?+

Sunrise and sunset times shift through the year, so the departure moves with them, and we also take the weather into account. We confirm the exact time the day before.

Languages

In which languages are the excursions?+

Our Free Svaneti excursions run in Georgian, English and Russian, and our guides speak these languages.
