Perseids Over Svaneti — Night Mountain Excursion
Join us for a night trip to watch the Perseids meteor shower in the mountains of Svaneti. On August 12, we depart from Mestia to reach high altitude with zero light pollution, where you can see shooting stars, the Milky Way, and the silhouettes of the Caucasus ridge. In 2026, conditions are especially favorable thanks to minimal moonlight interference.
☄️ PERSEIDS OVER SVANETI — NIGHT MOUNTAIN EXCURSION
On August 12, we're heading out to see one of the most spectacular meteor showers of the year — the Perseids.
That night, we'll leave the lights of Mestia behind and drive high into the mountains to meet the darkness, surrounded by the silhouettes of the Caucasus ridge.
🌌 What Awaits
After sunset, we depart from Mestia for one of the panoramic viewpoints in the mountains (most likely Gvaldi).
We settle in with blankets and hot tea, switch off the lights, and let our eyes adjust to the darkness.
Then — we simply look up.

In 2026, observing conditions are especially favorable: the peak of the Perseids falls during a period of minimal moonlight, so on a clear night you'll be able to see even relatively faint meteors.
No telescope needed. Perseids are best observed with the naked eye — the more open sky you can see, the better.

⚠️ This excursion will only take place if weather conditions are suitable and the sky is clear. If clouds prevent viewing the Perseids, the trip may be postponed or canceled.
