On August 9 in Mulahi, Stanislao Zama (Stanislao Zama)—coach of Italy's national speed climbing team—will conduct a master class.
He's coming to Georgia at the invitation of the National Climbing Federation of Georgia (GCNF). During his visit, he's running master classes in both Tbilisi and Mestia.
Stanislao Zama represents FASI—the Italian Federation of Sport Climbing—and has previous experience working with Georgian athletes. He has trained Giorgi Japaridze and Giga Jankhoteli, among Georgia's most successful climbing competitors.
Why this matters for Mestia
Part of the program is dedicated specifically to the local team.
Athletes from Mestia will run individual speed races, after which they'll receive recommendations and training assignments. So this isn't just a demonstration—it's direct work with young athletes in the region.
Those traveling to Mulahi include: • Federation head coach Avtandil Kurasbediani • Mestia team coach Mishiko Mchedliani • Athlete and young coach Berdia Merlani • Federation president Salome Urushadze
Organizers say the event should strengthen cooperation between Georgia's National Climbing Federation and Mestia's sports school.
For young athletes in Svaneti, this collaboration opens doors to modern training methods, professional expertise, and international experience.
